About
Hi!
Thanks for stopping by!
I always feel quite uncomfortable writing about myself, but for the sake of transparency I will make a rare exception for you lovely witches. Folkspell is a one woman (plus one dog) business, so every order placed makes a real difference to me and I am so grateful.
I am an artist, witch, introvert (semi-hermit!). I am more comfortable in my own company or surrounded by animals and trees. When not squirreled away in my cottage drawing and snacking, I feel most comfortable in the woods. I'm a creature of the night, I stay up very late and can often be found creeping around in the night when most people are asleep (hi fellow nightowls!).
If I was an animal I'd be a bat, a toad or a moth.. or more likely a hideous chimera of all three. I would say crow but I think they are more sociable than me, and likely smarter.
I like to keep learning about new things, with special interests in local nature, folklore, myths, legends and mysterious history, as well as all things witchcraft and esoteric. My best friend in the whole world and constant companion, is my (adopted rescue) dog.
I have been drawing my whole life, and have previously designed and published 2 tarot decks and 3 oracle decks. (But I have also had many, many far less fun jobs too, because I've got to pay those bills!)
I'm not feeling brave enough to include a photo of myself here yet, but you can probably find one, and also just more of my general potterings over on my Instagram account @folkspell
Folkspell
Folkspell is a literal cottage industry, as all products are fully designed by me in a small 200+ year old cottage in the South of England.
Folkspell came about because after 6 years of designing divination decks (which I do love doing), I wanted to allow myself some more creative freedom to make artwork that follows a less structured format and theme. I also wanted to return to a way of sharing my art that is more affordable and accessible to a wider range of people, so I decided to re-open an art shop.
I chose to put my art on apparel too, because as a child, as well as wanting to be an artist I also wanted to be "a tshirt designer" when "I grew up" and kept a whole folder of designs (specifically just a t-shirt designer, not a fashion designer haha) so I think childhood me would be happy to see my art on wearable items (I also wanted very much to join a circus and that hasn't panned out as I am very un physically coordinated and scared of being in the limelight, so T-shirts it is!)
I wanted to create some comfy, lowkey witchware that could be a part of my daily wardrobe and hopefully appeal to some of your other casual witches out there too.
The Folkspell T-shirts are all unisex, and super comfy. I stand by them and wear my own products regularly!

If you like my work (and random witchy woodland and garden snippets) it's worth finding Folkspell over on Instagram @folkspell. I use the IG page to anounce any new releases and special offers or discounts. Plus it's always nice to meet people with similar interests.
